Patrick Stuart of False Machine infamy has a Kickstarter out! The Doom of the Dark, a real-time, high-concept adventure for Tunnels & Trolls. It's now in stretch goal mode for the next week. I asked him some questions about it!
Here is some of the worldbuilding from my in-development game, By the Will of Dusassu. Also a name generation table! Name your god-spirit or character from my last blog posts! Flesh them out with lore! View from the Plane (2024). Collage by me.
You are the weakest and least loved of your clan. You have been betrayed and driven out of your ancestral herding lands by your former brethren, the cursed Shü Ebsö. It is only by the will of the sky god Dusassu and the host of lesser spirit-gods of grain, wolf, and copper that you all will survive the misty Endless Plains with no herd save the horses you escaped on. But you are the Rodnu Ebsö, and you will survive. A sandbox steppecrawl game of religion, survival, and discovery inspired by Genghis Khan's early life. Starlight (2024). Collage by me.
Happy New Year, everyone! As a yearly wrap-up, the Vienna Supergroup put together a Review Round Robin, where we each reviewed a game or adventure of another's choosing. For me, that was Deluge at Drizzle Distillery by Centaur Games , assigned to me by Xaosseed . So here’s everyone’s favorite category of game, a Weather Worm Adventure, reviewed to ring in the new year.
This post is for Glogmas ‘25 and is in response to Loch Eil’s post from October 2022 called Small Gods of the Old Forest . Merry Christmas! Happy holidays!
Key characteristics: Time repeats recursively (one month at a time). Timing seems linked to the Homeworld's (HW's) moon's months. The world appears to HWers as tilting sideways at a 35° angle. This is due to little-understood ristetic properties. Magic barrier: Required, to prevent one's body from imploding sideways. Climate: Moderate temperatures, moderate light, but very low visibility due to Fargaret's Fog (originally aer from Sominon Fargaret's interplanar travels). No edible food for HWers. Intelligent species: 1, made of mold (dubbed the Moldeans) that grow from the beginning to end of the month then resets. The status of any given Moldean's identity as an individual or community is unclear. Moldeans feed on Fargaret's Fog (and occasionally HWer flesh). Communicable via aer vacuum-transfer. Other flora and fauna: Unknown Notable cities or landmarks: Site #40023 "Ship's Death": HW-made, 51 years old, located at MP.32.1. Infinitely repe...
The city is a vertical city, not a horizontal one. Everything slopes. Buildings look like cardboard boxes stacked haphazardly. The steep hills throughout don’t help. The weather stays nice year-round, but the bay is a site of grotesque tragedies, the details long since forgotten less because of time than collective disinterest.
